Gretchen & Dale are good friends of ours from Church. Unfortunately we couldn’t photograph their wedding because the timing didn’t work out with us living in Chicago-land and their wedding taking place in Massachusetts. But we came home (Pittsburgh will always be home for us) for the week before the Fourth of July and we were able to set up a Rock the Dress shoot with them. Such a joy.
This beautiful couple will bring us back to Pittsburgh this year. It’s actually been a while since we’ve shot this e-shoot, but with the move to Chicago and other things in the air, we didn’t get a chance to post until now. Hopefully these photos will warm you up during these brisk, cold days.
I’ve been wanting to do a promo video for our business for a while. Actually, this isn’t the video I had in mind originally. I wanted to create a video of us discussing our photography, showing us with our clients on a photo shoot, and maybe pan or zoom into some shots we’ve taken.
That video will be for another time…
Well, I must say that Pittsburgh weather is terribly unpredictable! This time, at least, it was pleasantly so! After a full week of rain, snow showers and up-and-down, left-and-right weather, we got a wonderful sunny Saturday! Perfect timing for Tommy & Samantha engagement photos, who are from Houston, Texas.
I wish I could say that Samantha & Tommy came all the way to Pittsburgh just to have their photos done by One Way Street Production… but it wasn’t quite like that. Tommy is studying at the University of Pittsburgh, and they wanted to do some photos with the city as a backdrop while Samantha was in town visiting.
These two were so lovey and cute! Usually we have to really push for couples to conduct some PDA, but these two were all about it! In fact, I even had to separate them once or twice…We hope that love carries you two through your whole marriage.
Oh and Samantha had just the most joyous little smile! Even the tiniest little glint of it made me feel happy as I went through editing their photos…
Thanks guys for choosing us for your engagement photos! We really feel honored that you did! Hopefully the weather back in Texas will be a little bit more predictable than Pittsburgh for you two!
This a wonderful shoot to do for several reasons! I actually really like doing senior pictures photo shoots. I find them to be really low-pressure and cool, and it’s usually with “models” who are a lot more willing to have fun and goof off a bit! We did the shoot at the Cathedral of Learning because Pittsburgh’s weather is so unpredictable during these months. In fact, it rained all day.
We actually saw several photogs working around the Cathedral that day. Nice location!
Baby Eli was our first newborn shoot we did in a while. His mommy and daddy wanted to get some photos done while he still had that new-born smell — er, I mean, look; so we arranged to go over their house in the evening during the week since our next few weekends are booked… The only problem with shooting at night, however, is that we don’t get to use any of that beautiful (and free) window lighting that I love using for babies. So instead it was strobist to the rescue once again. All of these shots were taken with an SB-900 through a white umbrella (for you interested photogs out there). But I wanted to keep the shots as natural as possible, so Heather brought the umbrella nice and close for most of these photos. For almost every shot, the umbrella is hovering just outside of frame.
You get to enjoy lighting so much more when you’re the one controlling it!
