As photographers, we are really blessed with one of the sweetest experiences in life, of watching a family grow in love and numbers! We have known Jess and Brett for a few years now, and our journey with them as photographers began with Jess’s earlier years as she was launching her fitness and health coaching program, then years later we shot one of the most gorgeous and fun engagement sessions we’ve ever done, fast forward to their wedding day, and maternity and then now finally we got to meet Caleb, their first baby boy! To document moments like these … all special big and little ones, is a special privilege. We just love watching families grow and remain alongside them for years to come!
I (Michel) showed up at Jess and Brett’s place to a quiet home. Caleb was resting, and I wanted to document the tender moments in their sweet authentic fashion. Baby photos are often challenging because you have to be patient and give the baby all the breaks they need, but the rewards are great when you capture the tenderness and sweetness of a newborn just cuddling up on mommy or being held by daddy.
I often think babies just look like babies, especially in the first few weeks. They don’t really look like anyone, but while editing these photos, I realized how so much of Caleb’s little features reflected his own mommy’s. It will be fun to watch this little guy grow and look more and more like his parents with each changing stage of life.
Big yawn! Every thing a baby does is adorable, and I think worth cherishing. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to deliver these images to parents. Even in a time of cell phones and great camera phones, there’s something so valuable about being able to capture moms and dads with their littles in ways they might not otherwise.
Even this little cry face is adorably sweet! It may not be a joyful smile or laugh but it melts our little heart looking at that face!
